FBI Warns Americans About Iran’s Desperate Attempts to Help Get Biden Elected
The FBI recently conducted a brief press conference to let Americans know more about foreign interference in our upcoming election. Director of National Intelligence John Ratcliffe made an incredibly important announcement. Iran and Russia are both actively attempting to interfere in the presidential election.
“First we have confirmed that some voter registration information has been obtained by Iran and separately by Russia,” Ratcliffe said at the hearing. “This data can be used by foreign actors to attempt to communicate false information to registered voters that they hope will cause confusion, sow chaos and undermine your confidence in American democracy,” he continued.
“These actions are desperate attempts by desperate adversaries. Although we have not seen the same actions from Russia, we are aware that they have obtained some voter information just as they did in 2016,” Ratcliffe added. Iran is behind one of the more specific voter intimidation efforts that we have seen in modern times.
Democratic voters received letters that were supposed to be from the Proud Boys. Iran got their hands on these people’s information and decided to try and scare them away from the polls. Voters in Alaska, Arizona, and Florida received the letters. Once they started getting posted to social media, fear ran rampant. People wondered if they would be kept from voting by vicious thugs.
“We are in possession of all your information,” read the e-mail. “You are currently registered as a Democrat, and we know this because we have gained access into the entire voting infrastructure. You will vote for Trump on Election Day or we will come after you. Change your party affiliation to Republican to let us know you received our message and will comply. We will know which candidate you voted for. I would take this seriously if I were you. Good luck.”
A video connecting President Trump to the Proud Boys was also shared. An FWAB ballot was printed out by an alleged hacker, to drum up fear in constituents. Fortunately, cybersecurity researcher Matt Bernhard is here to dispel the rumors. “FWABs are typically ballots of last resort, and if any other ballot has been submitted by the voter, they trump the FWAB,” he says.
Since he works with elections security nonprofit VotingWorks, he’s a good source here. “This is just bull—t fear-mongering,” Bernhard said. “First of all, showing us a bunch of files in a file system doesn’t prove anything. second of all, the databases shown are quite possibly ones that are publicly available anyways, or that have been posted to dark web sites after leaks.”
That seems pretty easy to understand. China wants Trump to lose, Russia wants him to win. This is also simple. Evidently, the Iranians were hoping to rattle some liberal cages in swing states. The media firestorm that they envisioned did not turn out as they would have hoped. The FBI has already cracked the case and the threat was stamped out before the story had a chance to circulate any further.
Anyone who spent time on social media yesterday saw all of the menacing letters and it was only a matter of time before the mainstream media chose their preferred narrative. Russia appears to have their hands on the voting information in question but what they are doing with it is anyone’s guess. There’s a strong chance that the current administration felt that they needed to behave in a proactive manner to avoid further issues.
The full statement is a good watch, if only because it puts a stop to this particular bout of leftist hysteria before it can spread. The voter suppression narratives are already being concocted and now they can be quashed before they gain steam. Let’s all hope that this is the last story of this nature to break before the election. If anything, we could all use a break from the incessant foreign meddling. 2020 has been a heck of a year.
